Hi! I'm Jess.
I am located in Central New York (Homer to be exact). I photograph in studio, outdoor, on location, and even in the comfort of your own home! Have a special place you want to go? Let's do it.
I am a wife and a proud homeschool Mommy to 3 kiddos. They have been my inspiration since the second I found out I was pregnant. We began our homeschool journey in 2021 and it is absolutely amazing, tiring, rewarding, and such a blessing.
I love loud music, in all different genres. Hip Hop, Country, 80’s, 90’s, Alternative. Give me a good song so I can listen to it as loud as I can and sing & dance away.
I do not like the smell of wet washcloths, or dried “after the shower” towels.
I don’t like the dark, especially in confined spaces.
I love going on vacations and mini trips. I'm a firm believer in taking lots of photos, and giving my children tons of new experiences.
I don’t drink coffee - I know. Who doesn’t like coffee? This girl.
I use wayyyyy too many exclamation points so you don't think I am mad when I am responding! I probably also type "lol" too much.
Capturing memories for others is something I truly value. I get to meet all kinds of amazing people, I get to spend some of their most precious moments with them, and I even get lifelong friends and clients throughout the process.
What a session with me looks like:
Yes, we’ll absolutely get the classic smiles and the posed photos that Mom and Grandma will love. The ones for the wall and the Christmas card. BUT that’s not where our session ends.
My sessions are built around movement and connection. We walk, we play, we spin, we laugh. We let moments unfold instead of forcing them. Most families leave their session telling me how much fun they had, and that’s always the goal.
The most important thing I can tell you is this:
Leave your expectations at the door.
Kids don’t need to behave “perfectly” to make beautiful photos. In fact, the more pressure they feel, the harder it becomes for them to enjoy the experience. Stranger danger, slow warm ups, wiggles, shyness. It’s all normal, and it’s all welcome here!
That’s also why I offer different session lengths. Some kids need more time. Some don’t. You know your family best, so when you’re choosing your session, think about the snuggles, the giggles, and yes… even the occasional bribery in between!
I’ll meet your family exactly where you are and capture it just as it is. Real, connected, and full of life. I want you to enjoy the experience and want to come back again and again.
I can’t wait to work with you!
FAQ - The answers to your questions!
What kind of gear do you use?
I have 3 camera bodies, and multiple lenses. The main camera that I use is the Canon 6d Mirrorless. It is my favorite camera body I have owned. It has two card slots for photos to be written to at the same time. This means your photos will be copied to TWO locations at once, double ensuring a backup of all of your pictures we capture. I also have 2 backup cameras (Canon 5D Mark iv), multiple batteries, SD cards, and many different lenses, which helps create the look that you see on my page and throughout my portfolio!
Do I have to order prints through you?
You don't HAVE to order prints through me. You are welcome to purchase prints at a location of your choice. I do suggest you purchase your prints through me, because I do not guarantee print quality through labs other than my own. Non professional labs often don't match with the original edit of the photo you receive.
Do you offer lower prices?
To keep things fair to all of my clients, my prices are what they are. That being said, those who are signed up for my email marketing will receive special coupons and deals throughout the year. My prices are based upon my cost of doing business. As a legal business, a portion of my income not only goes to federal and state taxes, but also to my studio rent, updated cameras and lenses, business insurance, credit card processing fees, new props, backdrops, and more. I love being able to offer different options and bring in what my clients wish for. The only time I offer lower session pricing is periodically with mini sessions. These are usually themed and happen just a couple times per year.
Where will we do the photos?
We can do the photos, really, wherever you wish! I do charge a travel fee for places a certain distance from Cortland County. We can do an indoor or outdoor session. I can give you a few outdoor suggestions, I can come to you, or you can come to my studio, located on Main Street in Homer, NY.
What is the turn around time?
Wedding turn around times are generally 6-8 weeks and will be delivered in a 90 day online gallery as well as on a USB which comes with your wedding package. All other sessions are generally a 2-4 week turn around (depending how long it takes for you to choose your photos, if you take a week to choose your photos, add a week onto the turn around time.) You will receive your link to choose within 7-10 business days. If needed, priority editing can be added on for an extra charge for a 48 hour turnaround.
What payment methods are there?
I accept cash, Venmo, PayPal, Cashapp, and Credit Cards! I also offer payment plans through Affirm & Afterpay for invoices over $300.
Do you have clothing suggestions?
I have a whole client guide for you to view after your session is booked and your retainer is paid and contract is signed :) I even have some pieces you are welcome to use from my client closet! I provide many different wrap and headband options for newborns - as well as props!
